Craft Guild show offers cornucopia

More the 100 artists and craftsmen will be on hand for the Arkansas Craft Guild's Christmas Showcase Extravaganza today through Sunday at the Statehouse Convention Center.

Basket maker Luke Block and broom maker Jerry Lovenstein, recent wins of fellowship by the Arkansas Arts Council, will be two of the artists on hand to display their handmade items. Lovenstein re-creates traditional broom forms influenced by the Puritans and Shakers.

Stone County Art will have a booth with sculpture by Lee Cowan. Cowan will also exhibit hand-cast outdoor furniture made from concrete products, clay and mixed media.

Hours for the Christmas Showcase Extravaganza are 10 a.m.-8 p.m. today, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday at the Statehouse Convention Center, 100 W. Markham St. Admission: $3, $2 students and senior citizen. Call (870) 269-3897.
